Design of broadband 120° hybrid

There are known methods for constructing polarising networks for quadrature phase feed, i.e. a network with one input port and four output ports of equal amplitude and progressive 90° phase shifts. Ratrace networks or combinations of couplers and Shiffman phase shifters are the most common approaches.

Work in the field of
There is a need for networks with one input port and three output ports of equal amplitude and progressive 120° phase shifts. The project consists of specifying requirements for such a device, a survey of existing technologies and examination of whether a resonator can be used to achieve the desired performance.

Understanding of electromagnetic fields is necessary. We are looking for Master students with a profile including antennas, microwave technology or electromagnetic computations.

Thesis work extent
The master thesis project is for one student and comprises 20 weeks, 30 credits.
