From Assumed Defense to Assured Defense — RUAG’s MISSIM
Electronic Warfare Equipment Test System
Military personnel on missions in
dangerous territory depend on their vehicle’s defense
weapons systems to identify and respond to enemy threats. Once
in the field or under attack, it is too late to discover that
the vehicle’s electronic defense systems have let down its
guard. Defense systems readiness is too critical to go
To eliminate the need for potentially dangerous assumptions
in defense readiness, RUAG, a global leader in advanced
protection equipment for military personnel and vehicles, has
a revolutionary 3-in-one solution for testing radar, laser,
and UV emitters. MISSIM efficiently assures that defense
weapons systems are ready to meet any challenge.
The MISSIM electronic warfare equipment test system
provides a fast, accurate, and dependable pre-mission
equipment test of military vehicles’ defense weapons systems.
The compact and easy-to-use MISSIM system simulates radar,
laser, and guided missile signatures to test the sensitivity
and capability of defense equipment and provide a timely go or
no-go readiness report to operators.
RUAG’s engineers and programmers designed MISSIM to be
easy-to-use and highly adaptable. The unit is pre-programmed
with an extensive generic threat library, and it can be
effectively put to use in a wide range of threat environments
without additional programming. More advanced or specialized
simulations, utilizing up to 255 different scenarios per
emitter, can be easily programmed, even in the field, using
any Windows-based PC with a standard USB port.
One of the MISSIM unit’s greatest assets is its small size.
At 3.6 pounds (1.6 kilograms) in weight and compact enough to
be stored in a handheld carrying case, MISSIM easily can be
stowed onboard any vehicle. The unit is designed to meet all
military and environmental standards, and it includes a
built-in self-test, ensuring that MISSIM is ready-to-operate
in even the harshest conditions.
Furthermore, thanks to MISSIM’s advanced automatic
signal-strength compensation technology, the unit can be used
up to 66 feet (20 meters) from the defense weapons systems’
sensors, making the MISSIM highly mobile and convenient for
use in demanding and fast-changing circumstances.
RUAG has gained its worldwide reputation for engineering
excellence, cutting-edge technological innovations, and
advanced defense systems protection enhancements, such as
MISSIM. RUAG’s training and testing equipment is used and
trusted by its military and civilian partners all over the
world. Through its advances, RUAG strives to make dangerous
scenarios more survivable and defense more assured.
