Architecture and Performance Evaluation of Space Communication Protocol for Communication on Mars

Background
For Mars missions there is a need for communication between satellites orbiting the planet and vehicles on the surface of the planet, seewww.spaceref.com/news/viewpr.html.

This thesis aims at evaluating possible implementations for the space communication protocols on Mars, with respect to power, mass, implementation cost and hardware/software partitioning.

Work in the field of
The performance of the selected hardware/software partitioning in terms of power, mass and implementation cost shall be evaluated through simulation and/or testing. Thesis in the field of Computer and communication engineering.

Qualifications
Masters programme majoring in electrical or computer engineering or similar. Experience of VHDL design and C coding.

Thesis Work extent
This master thesis equals 30p in the MScEE program, two persons working together are considered.
