Master Theisis work at Antenna Electrical Design

Do you want to be involved in developing the future technology? Space is a part of the daily work at RUAG Space.  We manufacture space products that are used in almost all satellites and rockets serving the world wide space industry and global needs.

At RUAG Space we work in teams and have close collaboration in projects. We care about the balance between work and leisure through our flexible working conditions.

We are located i Göteborg and Linköping. RUAG Space AB is a part of the space division within RUAG Holding AG, a swiss technology group. The space division has approx. 1 100 employees in Switzerland, Sweden and Austria.

Design method for filters and design of generic filters for diplexers

At RUAG Space we have a world leading array antenna product, the patch excited cup element, intended for mobile communication and data systems. We are interested in developing diplexers that also are needed for these systems. The diplexers need high performance filters.

The work consistes of developing a design method for band pass filters with high suppression and steep band edges. The method is described in a publication and uses synthesis from a coupling matrix. We have performed a pre-study and want the method to be reviewed in detail and documented in an instruction.

In the thesis work, a few generic filters are designed for use in future diplexers. There will be several variants of different order and for different frequency bands.

Finally, the concepts should be evaluated using accurate, full-wave simulations, to ensure that their performance is the desired.

Qualifications
The work should be a master thesis of 30 credits and the duration is 20 weeks for one student. The starting time should be as soon as possible in agreement with the student. Understanding of electromagnetic fields and antennas is strongly recommended. Relevant education is engineering, majoring in microwave technology, antennas or technical computations.
