COOLCAT 4K – Helium Can AI-PET Laminate

Coolcat 4K – Helium Can Al-PET laminate is a 12 μm PET foil with aluminium coating on both sides and a 6 μm aluminium foil laminated at one side. Coolcat 4K laminate combines the low absorptance of a 50 μm aluminium foil with the good handling properties of a polyester foil.

Coolcat 4K does not crinkle the way aluminium foils do and has the higher tear resistance of a laminate.

Coolcat 4K general properties:

  • Very low absorptance at 4 K
  • Pre-cut using cost efficient LASER cutting
  • Easy to assemble
  • Saves labour costs at customer side
  • Maximum width: 1.47 m

For superconducting magnets:

  • Minimum aluminium foil thickness
  • Lower heat dissipation at 4 K incurred by Eddy currents
  • Lower Lorentz forces at quench

 

COOLCAT H – Welding Protection

Coolcat H – Welding Protection is a laminate of aluminium foil and fiber-glass cloth. Coolcat H protects polyester super-insulation against welding heat. Welding protection is needed because polyester super-insulation is flammable and melts at 250°C. Coolcat H insulates by reflecting the welding heat at its aluminium surface and by featuring the low conductivity of fiber-glass cloth.

    • Adhesive: 150°C

  • Maximum width: 1.0 m

  • Also available in rolls of 150 mm wide and 50 m long

 

COOLCAT Cryogenic Piping

10 Layers spotwelded lay-up from DOUBLE side aluminized, 6 μm polyester film (perforated), interleaved with 10 layers polyester spacer, 3.00 m x 1.50 m, including tapes for mounting and glass fibre reinforced spacers for supporting the cryogenic pipe in its vacuum jacket according to customer specification.
