The Multipurpose Trolley (MPT) supports the spacecraft or dedicated modules during horizontal or vertical integration and provides a table capable of tilting and rotating the spacecraft to any attitude between spin axis vertical and horizontal.

The Multipurpose Trolley (MPT) provides the interface to the spacecraft via the Transport and Handling Adapter or specific other test adapters.

Aluminium alloy or carbon steel is selected as a structural material.

Providing full compatibility to safety EC regulations, a complete set of safety interlocks is implemented, e.g.:

  • No rotating while tilting
  • No tilt while rotating
  • Key-switch for mains power
  • Overload limitation

Typical Features

Operation of Trolley via cable remote control and (optional) programmable touchscreen.

  • Tilt and slewing-rotation of the S/C via self-locking motor driven spindles for tilting and auto-locking wormgear motor drive for slewing ring rotation
  • All drive systems and moving parts fully covered
  • Provisions for towbar/crane lift/fork lift
  • Level-adjusting screwjacks & castors
  • Protective soft-cover for transport and storage can be provided

Technical data e.g. for a typical large Satellite Trolley are:

  • Length: 6,3 m
  • Width: <3 m
  • Height table down: 1,5 m
  • S/C axis @ table 90°: 3,2 m
  • Mass: 8,800 kg
  • Safe Working Load (SWL): 5,400 kg
  • Tilt-moment capability: 19,400 kgm
  • Rotation/tilt time: 5 min
