The cooperation agreement signed during the Avalon airshow includes a license to Moog to market and commercially exploit exclusively in the North American market SPD applications developed by RUAG. In all other markets, RUAG is marketing and providing SPD repair solutions directly to its customers. In parallel Moog Aircraft Group USA has developed other repair applications based on the SPD technology and will license those to RUAG to market them internationally.
SPD technology based repair services provided by RUAG have generated substantial savings for its aerospace customers. “SPD has demonstrated its powerful cost and turn-around-time reduction potential with our defense customers”, says RUAG’s Stephan Jezler, Senior Vice President Aviation International, he continues, “we are convinced it can do so as well in industries such as space, rail, mining, marine and many others.” The SPD technology and its applications have been developed by RUAG’s subsidiary in Melbourne, RUAG Australia, formerly Rosebank Engineering, in close cooperation with the local Universities and the Australian Defense Airworthiness Regulator. It offers customers a fast and lower cost alternative to repairs or expensive exchange of aircraft components. Many applications have been approved by the Australian Authorities already and have been proven in operation, e.g. with the Royal Australian Air Force and Navy, since 2009.
