The Swiss technology group RUAG International and the Australian sovereign defence and advanced manufacturing group ASDAM have reached an agreement on the sale of RUAG Australia Pty Ltd. ASDAM takes over all activities of RUAG Australia including all employees at all locations in Australia. The sale is expected to be completed in the coming months....

With over 150 employees and modern facilities across Australia, all fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge machinery, RUAG Australia Pty Ltd provides innovative turnkey aerostructures manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), engineering, additive technology repairs and surface treatment solutions for Defence and non-Defence customers. ASDAM – an Australian sovereign defence and advanced manufacturing company – will take over all business activities and employees. The acquisition is still subject to approval by the regulatory authorities. The completion of the transfer of ownership (contractual closing) is expected in the coming months.

Strengthening the Australian Defence Industry
A strong Australian sovereign defence industry is core to ASDAM’s focus. RUAG Australia plays a key role in the Australian sovereign defence industry through its sustainment, manufacturing and surface treatment capability. RUAG has the assignment from the F-35 Joint Program Office and the Australian Government to sustain 60% of all components on the F-35 Program in the Asia Pacific region. The combined resources of the ASDAM Group will enable RUAG Australia to further invest and grow its defence and aerospace capability in Australia.

RUAG International’s transformation to an agile space provider
For RUAG International, the sale agreement with Australian company ASDAM confirms another important milestone towards becoming an agile technology provider focused on the space market. André Wall, CEO of RUAG International, says: "The transfer of the business to an Australian sovereign defence and advanced manufacturing group is the perfect match for RUAG Australia. It successfully continues the current business activities and sustainably secures jobs for the future." The sale of RUAG Australia follows the divestment strategy defined by the Swiss Federal Council.

ASDAM is an Australian sovereign defence and advanced manufacturing company. The ASDAM Group currently includes the Marand and Levett Engineering businesses.
