RUAG Aerostructures submitted its bid for the Bayerischer Qualitätspreis to the Technische Universität München – the institution appointed by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs to adjudicate the competition – in early November 2014. From among the applications received from around 40 companies, a committee of experts from the realms of industry, commerce, services, administration and science selected a number of outstanding companies, which were then audited. RUAG was chosen as one of three industrial companies for its excellent results in all the quality categories.
Dr. Alexander Toussaint, CEO of the RUAG Aerostructures division, is delighted: "Winning this prize confirms our high level of quality and the progress we have made in recent years". During the audit process, RUAG Aerostructures excelled on account of its internal quality circle and the involvement of its employees in various solution processes. The active, constructive involvement of RUAG Aerostructures as a supplier in the processes of its customer Airbus was also praised.
RUAG Aerostructures is a global first-tier supplier of aerostructures for civil and military customers. Its key areas are the development, production and final assembly of complete fuselage sections, wing and control surface components as well as sophisticated component assemblies and parts for civil and military aircraft. Due to its great expertise in the management of complex international supply chain networks, it is responsible for the global fuselage section supply chains of Airbus and Bombardier.
Awarded each year since 1993, the Bayerischer Qualitätspreis is the first prize of its kind in Germany and serves as a quality seal. It is sponsored by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. To be eligible for the prize, a company must operate from one or more locations in Bavaria and conduct at least 30 percent of its business in Germany.
