As part of the ongoing strategic realignment of the Aerostructures business unit (RUAG Aerostructures), RUAG International and fitINDUSTRY have reached agreement on the sale of the Machining business unit. fitINDUSTRY Emmen AG is expected to take over all 19 employees and all machines at the beginning of September and will seamlessly continue production at the Emmen site. RUAG Aerostructures in Emmen will in future concentrate on the areas of composite materials, bonding processes and subassembly of military and civil products in low volumes. The site will continue to operate as a Tier 1 supplier and manage the entire value chain with competent partners. Thanks to the acquisition by fitINDUSTRY, customers such as Airbus, Boeing, GE Aviation, Pilatus Aircraft and Saab will continue to benefit from the first-class quality.

fitINDUSTRY - Market leadership as the goal

Chairman of the Board Albert Duhanaj is aiming for a leading position in the industry by integrating fitINDUSTRY Emmen AG into the existing family of companies - consisting of Krefatec Solutions AG, Turbal AG, Pamatool AG, Gremotool AG and Formteam AG. The companies benefit from shared resources, optimized processes, consistent use of automation and digitalization solutions, and a centralized organization, which is currently managed from Jonschwil and will be managed from the new headquarters in Uzwil from 2023. The acquisition of the Machining business of RUAG Aerostructures will enable further diversification.

André Wall, CEO of RUAG International, adds: "With fitINDUSTRY, we have found the perfect partner for the machining area. It was important for us to offer both customers and employees seamless solutions and good prospects. And RUAG Aerostructures will also continue to be able to rely on the highly qualified services directly at the site."

Marc Ganne-Chédeville, CEO of fitINDUSTRY Emmen AG, mechanical engineer and former head of RUAG Aerostructures in Emmen, is pleased: "I am convinced that the technical know-how and performance of the site can be perfectly combined with the technical expertise and agility of fitINDUSTRY to ensure sustainable and profitable growth."

Machining for aerospace

At the Emmen site, metallic parts such as control surface structures, payload suspensions or even turbine housings for civil and military aircraft are manufactured from whole blocks or plates. The strength of production in Emmen is the machining of all common aerospace materials from aluminum and titanium to high-quality alloys for larger dimensions. In the future, these processes will also be offered for other branches of industry, such as classic mechanical and plant engineering or vehicle construction.
