RUAG Aerostructures and Pilatus: a proven partnership

RUAG Aerostructures and Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG are taking their collaboration to the next level. By extending their existing contract and also agreeing additional orders for key components of the PC-7, PC-12 and PC-21 single-engine turboprop aircraft, the two companies are continuing their long-standing cooperation....

RUAG Aerostructures and Pilatus have a longstanding history. Various components for the PC-7, PC-12 and PC-21 aircraft types are produced and assembled for the Swiss aircraft manufacturer at the RUAG Aerostructures site in Emmen. The two companies have now agreed to extend their partnership until 2025.

Many years of experience and excellence decisive for contract extension

With the contract extension until 2025, RUAG Aerostructures remains responsible for manufacturing the horizontal stabilizer for the PC-12. More than 1,800 aircraft delivered and a total of around 9 million flight hours confirm the versatility of the PC-12. Against this background, good sales figures for the aircraft can also be expected in the future. RUAG Aerostructures has again succeeded in securing a long-term cooperation with a market leader.

Additional orders also for PC-21

RUAG Aerostructures also secured follow-up orders for the PC-21. The entire fuselage and wing structure for twelve further aircraft will be produced at the Emmen site. The single-engine turboprop training aircraft is used by the world's top air forces to train military pilots. Production of the twelve aircraft is scheduled to start in late summer 2021.

"We are proud that a piece of RUAG Aerostructures is in every PC-12 and PC-21. We are very pleased to continue and further deepen the proven partnership with our Pilatus. For our site in Emmen, the orders are an important contribution to securing the future of our company," says André Wall, CEO of RUAG International.

Markus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus, says: "It goes without saying that Pilatus is always pleased when it can place orders in Switzerland and thus help to strengthen the Swiss workplace. The cooperation with RUAG is tried and tested and the expertise is outstanding. However, Pilatus expects RUAG to cut costs in order to become more competitive. Pilatus products are manufactured almost exclusively for the international market and are therefore subject to great competitive pressure.”
